Beginning in early 2010, Monmouth County, New Jersey will take part in a federal program familiarly known as Section 287(g), which allows local law enforcement officials to aid the Department of Homeland Security in immigration matters. This may including apprehension and detention of certain foreign nationals by local authorities.
Critics on both sides of the immigration debate have comments on Section 287(g) program.
