For a second year in a row, Ms. Thaker has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyer magazine!
Because of her selection to the 2012 New York – Metro Rising Stars list, Ms. Thaker’s name will be featured in a special section called The Top Women Attorneys in the New York Metro Area in the December 30, 2012 issue of The New York Times Magazine.
Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. The Rising Star selection process involves two steps: creation of the candidate pool and evaluation of candidates by the research department.
Lawyers enter the candidate pool by being formally nominated by a peer or if identified by the research department during the research process.
The research department evaluates each candidate based on these 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts and settlements; transactions; representative clients; experience; honors and awards; special licenses and certifications; position within law firm; bar and or other professional activity; pro bono and community service as a lawyer; scholarly lectures and writings; education and employment background; and other outstanding achievements.
To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger.
While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
