Summary of Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009

On December 15, 2009, Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL), introduced a bill in the House of Representatives, entitled Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009. Click here to read the comments Rep. Gutierrez, chair of the CHC Immigration Task Force, made at a press conference introducing the bill.

While the actual text of the legislation is more than 600 pages, here is a brief summary of CIR ASAP.  Of course, this is only the preliminary proposed legislation and there are no new laws as of right now.  Keep checking back on our blog for further updates as they become available.
